Student injured at Carthage South Technical Center

A serious accident took place this morning at the South Technical Center adjacent to Carthage High School.

Carthage Police spokesman Officer Chad Diniger says a student was in a welding class when an explosion happened shortly after 10 a.m.

He says the accident is under investigation. The student was transferred by ambulance to Carthage Mercy Hospital and was then flown by helicopter to another healthcare institution.

The student’s name is not being released at this time.
