Ascension Via Christi will pause elective and non-emergent procedures
Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg will pause elective and non-emergent procedures, effective immediately.
“The decision was made to pause elective and non-emergent procedures due to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in Crawford and Bourbon counties,” said Randy Cason, President of Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.
“Hospital leaders met today and agreed that activating the surge plan that we developed this past spring was our best course of action.”
This surge plan allows leaders to reallocate associates from other hospital departments to help care for an influx of patients.
“Our first priority is always the safety of our patients and associates,” said Cason. “We are fortunate to have close relationships with our sister hospitals in Wichita and Manhattan who may be called upon to help provide additional clinical support and resources.
Patients scheduled for non-emergent procedures will be notified of cancellations or rescheduling needs. Patients should consult with their physician if they have additional questions.
