About 30 apartments at the Zahn Apartments near 3rd and Wall reportedly are affected by an unsafe exterior fire escape.

Residents on floors two through six are reportedly expected to receive official notices on Monday, nov. 8th at require them to vacate by Nov. 30th.

Some of the residents receive Section 8 assistance and some have physical disabilities or mental health challenges

At this time, the Economic Security Corporation in Joplin is helping residents find new residences but more money is needed.

An offer reportedly has been made by a local landlord to provide housing for those who will have to move.

This situation was brought to the forefront over the weekend in a Facebook posting by former Joplin City Councilman, Brian Cowles.

This is a developing story.
