The 7th Congressional District Republican Committee held its reorganization meeting Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Historic Lawrence County Courthouse in Mount Vernon, Missouri.

The committee represents 10 southwestern Missouri counties: Barry, Christian, Greene, Jasper, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, Stone, Taney and Webster.

Members elected the following officers:

Kimberly Kuhns of Jasper County, chair

Ron Housman of Taney County, vice chair

Amanda Reece of Barry County, secretary

Johnathan Russell of Newton County, treasurer

The committee established a communications chair to coordinate information shared through its social media accounts and website. Members also established a Scholarship Committee to administer the Steve Lampley Memorial Scholarship, honoring Lampley’s dedicated service to the Republican Party and the 7th Congressional District.

Colton Taussig, deputy political director for the Missouri Republican Party, addressed the committee about upcoming Missouri House and Senate races in southwestern Missouri. He encouraged members to support Republican candidates and urge their families, friends and neighbors to vote in the Nov. 3, 2026, general election.

The committee’s purpose is to foster loyalty to the Missouri Republican Party, promote conservative principles, support Republican members of Congress and other Republican candidates within the district, and assist central committees throughout the 7th Congressional District in building and strengthening the Republican Party.

“The 7th Congressional District will not grow stronger by asking everyone to think exactly alike,” said Kimberly Kuhns, who was first elected chair in 2025 and reelected to continue serving in that role. “It will grow stronger when people with shared principles learn to work together, respect one another and make room for every willing volunteer.

We do not have to agree on every method to move in the same direction. Our district will be strongest when every leader understands that authority is entrusted for service and not for control. Our country does not need perfection; it needs participation from the voters in our communities. The 7th Congressional District should become a model of both principled leadership and genuine unity.”

The 7th Congressional District Republican Committee remains committed to communication and cooperation among its counties, supporting Republican candidates, developing future leaders and encouraging participation throughout southwestern Missouri.
