Joplin, MO - Watered Gardens Ministries will host an open house at the Washington Family Hope Center on September 11 from 3 - 5 p.m. at 1112 E 2nd Street in Joplin.
For years, mothers and their children have been able to find peace and stability at the Washington Family Hope Center.
Watered Gardens invites the community to come and see how the facility operates, hear testimonies from some of the moms who are successfully working their way out of poverty, and get questions answered by Director Edie Spera and Executive Director James Whitford.
The longstanding Washington Elementary school building was renovated to create the Washington Family Hope Center.
It provides two floors of apartment-style living spaces for women and their children seeking a new, hopeful path out of sometimes dangerous and challenging situations. The building has the capacity to hold 14 moms at a time, keeping their families together with up to four children per mom.
Volunteers and staff provide childcare, allowing the women to work during the day, attend school, and overcome barriers that have been keeping them stuck in poverty.
“The community will have the opportunity to not only learn who we are, but also witness how women and children’s lives are being transformed.”
