Kehoe highlights Missouri trade and National Guard ties after Panama trip

Gov. Mike Kehoe says his recent trip to Panama could create new opportunities for Missouri businesses and farmers.
Kehoe led a state delegation to Panama from Aug. 5-8. The group met with officials overseeing agriculture, commerce and the Panama Canal to promote Missouri as a destination for companies looking to expand into the United States.
Agriculture was a major focus. Kehoe said his administration will soon work with Missouri commodity groups and the University of Missouri Extension on proposals intended to benefit producers in Missouri and Panama.
Panama purchased $17.7 million in Missouri exports in 2025, including food products, machinery, chemicals and transportation equipment.
The trip also celebrated the 30-year partnership between Panama and the Missouri National Guard. The relationship includes training and cooperation involving cybersecurity, disaster response and Panama Canal security.
Kehoe also visited Missouri Guard members participating in PANAMAX, a multinational exercise focused on protecting the canal and improving regional security.
“It was very inspiring and humbling at the same time,” Kehoe said. “It was a great trip.”
