The Kansas City Chiefs have revealed the first renderings of their proposed $3 billion domed stadium in Kansas, offering fans a glimpse of the franchise's future home ahead of a planned opening for the 2031 NFL season.

The 70,000-seat stadium, designed by architecture firm MANICA, features a fully enclosed roof made of translucent ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) panels.

While modern in design, the stadium incorporates several features inspired by Arrowhead Stadium, including a symmetrical curved exterior and scalloped upper decks in each end zone.

Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said fan feedback played a major role in the design, particularly the goal of preserving the team's reputation for one of the loudest home-field advantages in the NFL. The stadium is being engineered to amplify crowd noise while enhancing the overall game-day experience.

"Our goal has been to build something that improves the gameday experience for every single fan," Hunt said in a team statement.

Kansas lawmakers approved legislation in December allowing Sales Tax and Revenue (STAR) bonds to cover up to 70% of the stadium and surrounding mixed-use development. Hunt and his family have pledged an additional $1 billion toward the project.

The development will also include the Chiefs' new training facility and more than 20,000 parking spaces, preserving the team's well-known tailgating tradition.

Although the exact site has not been finalized, Kansas officials have said the stadium will be built in Wyandotte County. One leading possibility remains the area near Kansas Speedway and The Legends entertainment district in Kansas City, Kansas.

Once completed, the Chiefs plan to pursue major events including the Super Bowl, NCAA Final Fours, College Football Playoff games, bowl games and future FIFA World Cup matches.

They hope to have it ready by the 2031 NFL season.
