Krisp selected as DNR’s Team Member of the Month for February

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Amber Krisp, a legal counsel with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ General Counsel’s Office, has been selected as the department’s Team Member of the Month for February 2024. She was selected for her service to the department and her efforts to assist the Missouri Geological Survey’s Dam and Reservoir Safety Program.

As a team member of the General Counsel’s Office, Krisp assists the Missouri Geological Survey on a variety of legal matters. She is known for her upbeat personality and willingness to see a project through, a quality that is known as the “Krisp Effect” by those in the Missouri Geological Survey who have worked with her.

“Amber has always provided great legal support to the Land Reclamation Program and the Missouri Attorney General’s Office,” said Larry Lehman, a deputy division director with the Division of Environmental Quality, and former director of the Land Reclamation Program. “Several examples include attending public meetings, reviewing legal documents concerning permit applications and interfacing with outside legal counsels when needed.”

Recently, the Dam and Reservoir Safety Council received a petition from a dam owner regarding regulatory authority. The council requested legal assistance to help them determine an appropriate response to the petition.

With approval from the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, Krisp volunteered to initiate and complete a thorough, articulate and effective legal brief to assist the council. Her work for the council assisted them in making a decision that ensured Missouri’s dams continue to be constructed, maintained and operated in a safe manner, which protects the public.

“Amber took a large amount of initiative in assisting the Dam and Reservoir Safety Council,” said Ryan Stack, the chief engineer with the Dam and Reservoir Safety Program, who nominated Krisp for the award. “She supports many of the Missouri Geological Survey’s programs, maintains a positive attitude and has proven that she will tackle every task with professionalism, integrity and thoughtfulness.”

Krisp joined the Missouri Department of Natural Resources in June 2021 and resides in Jefferson City.
