“A Christmas Story” actress dies

The actress who played the part of Ralphie’s mother in “A Christmas Story” has died.

Melinda Dillon was nominated for an Academy Award  for her supporting role in “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.”

She was also nominated for playing the role of Teresa in “Absence of Malice.”

She  earned a Tony Award in 1963 for her performance as Honey in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”

Melinda Dillon was 83 years of age.
