Parsons Police arrest felon after confrontation at residence

On Thursday, Parsons Kansas Police were dispatched to a residence in that city and were advised that one person there had an active felony warrant out of Labette County Sheriff’s Department.

The address they had been sent to was a known residence for Jake Cervantes who, earlier this year pleaded no contest to a burglary charge.

Upon arriving at the residence, a female told one officer that Cervantes was hiding under the bed and gave them permission to go into the house. Officers went in and found him beneath the bed.

Cervantes tried to flee out of a window. Falling to the ground outside of the residence Cervantes continued to fight officers to avoid apprehension. Officers were able to subdue Cervantes and place him in handcuffs.

Officer Jason Ludwig of the Parsons P.D. suffered an injury to one of his arms and was treated and released at local emergency room.

Charges are being sought on Cervantes for Felony Interference with Law Enforcement, and Battery of a Law Enforcement Officer. The case will be filed with the Labette County Attorney’s Office.
