Festival continues with two free concerts
The Pittsburg Festival of the Arts continues on Tuesday with two free concerts of different styles.
At 2 p.m., today the Pittsburg Brass Quintet will play at Pittsburg Public Library, 308 N. Walnut.
This quintet of community members and of faculty from Pittsburg State University will perform a fun and relaxing concert of mostly light classics and pop music with the goal of making music accessible and interesting. Organizers promise it will be appropriate for children.
At 7 tonight a concert of clarinet and saxophone ensembles directed by Professor Joanne Britz will feature an extensive repertoire for clarinet and saxophone. It will be structured as a “pyramid” of works, featuring a soloist, a duo, a trio, a quartet and then, a larger clarinet ensemble playing a variety of classical and contemporary music.
Performing musicians include former, current, and prospective PSU clarinet and saxophone students of Britz as well as a few guest artists.
This concert will be held in the recital hall at McCray Hall on campus rather than at Block 22 as originally advertised.
Throughout the remainder of the week, concerts will be held in Pittsburg small businesses, the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts, and the First United Methodist Church. For a complete listing, visit Facebook.com/PittsburgArtsFest
