Parsons Police deal with another case of possible animal abuse

Another possible case of animal abuse has taken place in Parsons.

A Parsons PD spokesman says a deceased dog  was found wrapped in a blanket near a small bridge in that city on December 29th.

An autopsy showed severe trauma to the underside of the dog’s abdomen and trauma around the neck from the choke chain that was still on the animal. The animal was found to have gone missing from the 1300 block of S 13th Street.

The dog, named Drako, is the 3rd reported dog killed in less than a year in the same area of the city.

Meanwhile the search for the killer of “Ranger” – a dog owned by a Parsons Police officer- continues.

The reward for the “Ranger’s” killer has been updated to $34,000.

Parsons Police Sgt. Jason Ludwig says several individuals are also being offered polygraph test to help eliminate them as potential suspect but not all individuals are cooperating voluntarily.

Parsons residents are encouraged not to let their dogs roam at large. Those with information are encouraged to email police at tips@parsonspd.com or call the Parsons Police Department at (620) 421-7060 or the police tip line at (620) 421-7057.
