MSSU, other schools experience drop in total student numbers

Student numbers are down at area colleges and universities.

A spokesman for Missouri Southern State University says the school’s fall 2021 enrollment is 4,358.

That’s a 13.86 percent drop.

The University is debuting programs to try to elevate the numbers.

Pittsburg State University reports a fall headcount of just over 6,000 students for the fall semester, down 6 percent from one year ago.

Crowder College had a 5 percent drop compared to fall 2021.
