700 compete in Joplin Memorial Run

The Joplin Memorial Run, on hold since May due to the pandemic, finally took place Saturday

The overall Half Marathon winners were Blaine Jimerson of Joplin and Carrie Birth of Fayetteville.

Buddy Romine of Columbus and Alexandra Carson of Joplin were fastest in the 10K.

Caleb Hoover and Amanda Ivey of Milo came in first in the 5K.

There were about 700 runners this year, down from a little over 2,000 last year.

The event honors the lives lost in the Joplin tornado in 2011.
