Joplin business boards up windows in ‘abundance of caution’

While there have been rumors of ANTIFA and other violent groups making the trek to Joplin, there have been NO credible threat of violence. The Downtown Joplin Alliance tells us that there are two peaceful protests planned Saturday. One at Ewert Park from 4-6pm and one from 4-11pm at 7th and Rangeline. Organizers are working with JPD. There are NO credible rumors of violence.

But one Joplin business at 4th and Wall has taken the precaution of boarding up its office in an abundance of caution with safety in mind.

The Joplin Police Department released the follow statement:

“JPD has received numerous calls with concerns regarding planned riots in the City of Joplin this weekend. The Joplin Police Department has been actively monitoring the situation and we are working closely with other law enforcement agencies in the region. As of this point in time, we have not received any CREDIBLE information that rioting is being planned.
