Jasper County Deputy shot east of Joplin

UPDATE: The suspect was found dead near the area the incident took place hours after the shooting initially took place.

A Jasper County Deputy was taken to a local hospital after being shot in the leg during an incident Thursday afternoon. Sgt. Tim Williams tells us that it happened when they went to a home on Gerbitz Road between Newman and E. 7th Street after a stolen vehicle investigation. The situation is ongoing.
