Moundville man arrested after shooting

Vernon County’s Special Response Team was activated after reports of shooting Sunday. Read the full press release below:

An arrest warrant was issued Monday afternoon for a Moundville resident who was arrested Sunday by the Vernon County Special Response Team (SRT). According to Sheriff’s Office officials, the team was activated after the Sheriff’s Office received a report that a person had fired a gun towards someone during an altercation. The Special Response Team responded to the residence located on E Tally Bend RD, West of Moundville and took the suspect into custody without incident and no injuries were reported.

The suspect has been identified as 45-year-old Robert L Hudson of Moundville. According to Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher, a firearm was recovered at the scene and the investigation is continuing. Hudson has been charged with Felony charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and the Misdemeanor charges of Receiving Stolen Property and Domestic Assault. Hudson is being held in the Vernon County Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond.
