Parson Vetoes Viking Funerals
Viking funerals. It’s the age old act of cremating your loved ones during an outdoor ceremony. It’s not currently legal in Missouri and will continue to be that way after Governor Parson vetoed the bill on Friday.
Kansas City State Senator Jason Holsman sponsored the bill, which would have allowed funeral directors to perform cremations at an outdoor human cremation facility. Holsman said Viking funerals have “been around since the dawn of man.”
Governor Mike Parson vetoed the bill, saying “the burial of our loved ones or the disposal of their remains is deeply personal and should be treated with the utmost care and respect.”
