Flash Flooding Wreaked Havoc On JPD Answering Domestic Disturbance Call
Heavy rainfall and flash flooding caused major issues for the Joplin Police Department Thursday morning, including their ability to quickly get to a domestic disturbance where a man was pointing a rifle in a woman’s face at 16th and Iowa. Captain Trevor Duncan tells News Talk KZRG they made it there before the situation could escalate.
“When the bad weather is happening, we like to focus on the weather. Unfortunately, other incidents continue to go on, and the flooded roads caused an issue with us being able to get there, but we were able to take care of it.”
The victim had some minor injuries from trying to wrestle the gun away. 27-year-old Andrew Garrison is in custody for 1st degree assault and armed criminal action.
