Joplin City Council approves 44th/Connecticut widening project
The Joplin City council has approved a project that will widen 44th Street from Connecticut Avenue east to Rangeline Road and would widen Connecticut south of the bridge over Interstate 44 to 44th Street. This $5.6 million project by D&E Plumbing and Heating will make both roads five lanes and will include a roundabout at the intersection of 44th and Connecticut. Construction is scheduled to begin in three different phases starting June 2019 with all phases scheduled to be completed by late November 2020. Council members say this project is important because they expect major development in the area in the future.
The council also approved a $188,440 agreement for services on the Turkey Creek Waste Water Treatment Plant Tertiary Filter Replacement.
Council also denied an appeal for replacement of windows within the Sunshine Lamp Historic District. Read more about this council bill here
