Joplin Airport important to local economy

Recently, the Joplin Regional Airport announced that Allison Zahner took over as airport manager.  

Mayor Pro Tem Josh Detar told Newstalk KZRG the airport is needed for the Joplin economy:

“It’s important for not only quality life for the citizens here, the people that live here, or even in the regions to have access to an airport, but for economic development standpoint.  And it’s crucial because a lot of businesses that are looking to come here and looking to have some sort of access, at least to a regional airport where they can park their planes ,if they have one.  I know we’ve got a couple local businesses that keep some leases out at the hangers.”
