Ron Richard to be inducted into the Hall of Famous Missourians

Yet another honor for the late Ron Richard of Joplin.

House Speaker Dean Plocher and the Missouri House of Representatives announced today the planned induction of he former Speaker of the Missouri House and President Pro Tem of the Senate into the Hall of Famous Missourians.

Speaker Plocher will unveil a bust of Richard of which will be included in the Hall.

The unveiling will take place at 1 p.m. this coming Monday, Nov. 25th in Jefferson City.

Richard, a Parsons, Kansas native,  was mayor of Joplin in the 1990s before going on to serve in top posts in the Missouri House and Senate the only member of those bodies to hold both positions.

He was also a member of the Missouri Southern State University Board of Governors.

He died in 2023.
