Neosho Fire Department responds to residential fire on S. Washington Street
NEOSHO, Mo – On Saturday, November 16, at approximately 8:06 PM, the Neosho Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 409 S. Washington Street. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from a two-story, wood-framed residential home.
Firefighters acted swiftly, deploying two 1.75-inch handlines to attack the fire. Thanks to their aggressive efforts, the fire was brought quickly under control.
Mutual aid was provided by Redings Mill Fire Protection District, the Neosho Police Department, and Newton County Ambulance District. Liberty Utilities and Spire were also contacted to manage gas and electric services at the scene.
The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Neosho City Building Inspector, and the American Red Cross were notified for follow-up assistance and support.
Following an investigation, the fire’s cause was determined to be accidental, originating in the living room. Unfortunately, the home sustained severe damage.
