Driver falls asleep, causing double fatality crash on I-49
A double-fatality crash on I-49 north of Jasper Wednesday afternoon was reportedly caused by one driver falling asleep at the wheel.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says as a Toyota Corolla slowed to a near stop on the interstate, a large pickup truck rear-ended the vehicle, killing two people in the backseat.
A 27-year-old woman and 27-year-old man from Carthage were identified as the victims in the crash.
