Schmitt-sponsored bill signed into law by President Biden
A bill co-sponsored by Missouri U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt is now federal law.
On Thursday, President Biden signed the Launch Communications Act into law, which creates a new process for the FCC to issue radio frequency licenses for commercial space launches.
The updated process is designed to help improve coordination among federal agencies amid a fast-growing commercial space industry.
Schmitt says in a statement that “America must maintain its edge in the 21st century space race against China.”
The bill was co-sponsored by Democratic Senator John Hickenlooper of Colorado.
It’s Schmitt’s first bill to be signed into law, and reportedly the only bill signed into law this session that was co-sponsored by a Senate freshman.
