Officer performs Heimlich maneuver on man at Aurora restaurant
On Saturday just before 2 p.m., a 911 call came in to emergency responders from the Blackbird Grill restaurant in Aurora
The caller stated a 66 year old man had gotten choked and was now not breathing, unconscious and turning blue.
Lawrence County 911 dispatched the Aurora Marionville Police Department.
Officer Tyler Ondatje responded and arrived in just a couple minutes. Using his medical training, he assessed the situation and performed the Heimlich, ultimately dislodging the food the man was choking on.
“It is likely this man may not have survived without Officer Ondatje’s quick actions, training, and dedication to saving and protecting lives in our community,” stated a posting on the AMPD Facebook page.
They also thanked the Lawrence County 911 Center for receiving and passing along the call to get life saving help to the man in seconds.
