Federal judge grants restraining order in Missouri-led loan forgiveness lawsuit

A federal judge in Georgia has blocked the Biden Administration’s latest attempt to forgive student loan debt.

Missouri and six other states have been arguing that President Biden and the federal Department of Education are seeking to use a federal statute to mass cancel “hundreds of billions of dollars” in student loan debt and to do so this week.

U.S. District Judge J. Randal Hall sided with Missouri and granted a temporary restraining order against the Biden Administration.

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey calls the ruling “a huge victory for every working American who won’t have to foot the bill for someone else’s Ivy League debt.”

The Biden Administration is expected to appeal.
