Highway Commission seeks input on MoDOT director search
JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission is beginning its search for a new director for the Missouri Department of Transportation. Director Patrick McKenna has announced his departure effective September 20, and the Commission has named MoDOT Deputy Director Ed Hassinger as interim director to lead the organization during the transition.
The Commission intends to launch a national search for its new director following its monthly meeting the first week of September. First, they are seeking public input on important credentials and personal attributes key to the position.
A public comment form is available online at www.modot.org/mhtc, and comments will be accepted through 8 a.m. Tuesday, September 3.
“The Commission will exercise due diligence by performing a national search open to both external and internal candidates, giving consideration to the extensive network of transportation professionals who are ready to compete and lead a world class organization,” said Commission Chairman W. Dustin Boatwright. “The MoDOT Director position is critical to the success of transportation in Missouri, and we want to hear from key stakeholders and the public what leadership qualities are important to them.”
The Commission intends to post the MoDOT Director job vacancy announcement in early September with the intent to have a new director in place by the end of the year.
