Fire sweeps through church in Nevada

NEVADA, Mo. – A blaze caused extensive damage to a church early this [Saturday] morning in Nevada.

The fire damaged the First Christian Church near Washington Street and Austin Boulevard in the Vernon County city.

The fire call happened around 3 a.m. A number of agencies took part in combatting the fire.

Firefighters arrived to find the structure fully involved with the roof in flames.

No cause for the fire or word on the exact extent of the damage has yet been released.

The church is about 75 year old.
