Old Freeman building to be discussed at tonight’s Joplin City Council meeting
The original Freeman Hospital in Joplin was built in 1928 at 20th and Sargent and is now in a deteriorated condition..
It’s been abandoned for many years.
Joplin Mayor Keenan Cortez told Newstalk KZRG that the building is going to be discussed at Monday night’s city council meeting.
“I don’t know exactly how old that building is. But anybody that drives by 20th and Sergeant can see it. They know that pretty much all the windows are gone. It’s all boarded up. But you know, even when we board everything up people still find a way to get in there and find temporary shelter from storms and heat and cold and all that kind of stuff.”
