Charges filed for allowing sexual abuse to take place; locking children in dog cage as punishment
A child abuse investigation has led to charges being filed against two people in Newton County with charges pending against another.
The two are charged with allowing sexual abuse to take place and locking children in a dog cage as a form of punishment.
Investigators say up to seven children were living in a residence at the time the abuse began.
Holly Brewer of Seneca was charged with three counts of Class D felony child abuse with no sexual contact.
Billy Bresee of Seneca was charged with one count of Class D felony child abuse with no sexual contact.
In a probable-cause statement, competed by a Seneca police officer, a witness said she and her sisters were subjected to sexual abuse by a separate adult male but Bresee “refused to do anything about it.”
The victim said the children had reported the abuse but Bresee said they “were lying and didn’t know what they were talking about.”
Bresee was also accused of keeping a “foldable dog crate to keep two children inside as a form of punishment.”
Bond for both suspects is set at $5,000, cash or surety, on the condition that neither be allowed to contact the alleged victims in this case.
Sexual abuse charges against the alleged sexual abuser in the case are said to be pending.
The charges were filed by William P. Lynch, Newton County Prosecuting Attorney.
