Narcotics raid leads to arrests in Riverton

Two men arrested after a narcotics search warrant Monday in the Riverton-area.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office says just after 3 pm, deputies executed a search warrant on Southeast Varck Road.

The search warrant was part of an ongoing investigation into illegal drug activity.

During the course of the search, investigators located and seized suspected narcotics along with drug paraphernalia consistent with distribution.

Arrested at the scene were 33-year-old Matthew Haynes and 41-year-old Brandon Lewis.

Haynes was transported to the Cherokee County Jail on allegations of possessing cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Haynes is also being held on allegations of child endangerment.

Lewis was transported to the Cherokee County Jail on two outstanding warrants for his arrest for possessing a controlled substance and failure to pay child support.
