Improve I-70 work begins
Work has begun on expanding Interstate 70 to six lanes across Missouri, from St. Louis to Kansas City.
Linda Moen, principal owner of EFK Moen, an engineering and design firm that’s one of the subcontractors for the 2-point-8-billion-dollar project.
Moen told Newstalk KZRG drivers should be patient as they encounter road work along I-70: “Please pay attention. Remember that there are construction workers out there, and we need to keep them safe, so pay attention to the signing. Pay attention to the slowdown and the speed limits. Please keep our people safe, and we’re doing our best to keep the traveling public safe and to keep the access open for everyone throughout this project.”
New pavement construction began Monday along the west and eastbound lanes of I-70 between Columbia and Kingdom City.
The entire expansion is expected to take four to five years.
