Clock is ticking for Parson to decide whether to sign or veto legislative bills
The clock is ticking for Governor Mike Parson to decide whether to sign or veto legislative bills passed this year.
July 14th is the deadline for the governor to decide on bills that the Missouri Legislature passed this year.
A key bill awaiting action is Senate Bill 912, which would allow a full state tax deduction for military and National Guard enlistment and reenlistment bonuses.
It would make it easier for veterans to get a handicap placard for their vehicle and cover the cost of military specialty license plates for veterans.
Washington Senator Ben Brown is sponsoring the bill that would also require the Missouri Veterans Commission to work with the Department of Mental Health to find ways to fight veteran suicide.
In addition, the legislation would award National Guard members and veterans who served on active duty from 2001 to 2021.
