Driver arrested 15 hours after the crash
Update: The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the driver of the truck was arrested Saturday morning. He has been identified as 35-year-old Richard S. Taylor, of Racine. He now faces several charges.
A woman from Joplin was killed after a hit-and-run pedestrian crash Friday evening.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says it happened on Douglas Fir Road, just east of Highway 43, southeast of the Petro-area.
60-year-old Sheldonna A. Wood was hit by a Dodge Dakota pickup truck that traveled off the right side of the roadway.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck fled the scene and was last seen traveling west on Douglas Fir Road, near Loma Linda. The driver was arrested about 15 hours later. He has been identified as 35-year-old Richard S. Taylor, of Racine, Missouri.
Troopers found his vehicle thanks to tips after they issued an alert after the hit-and-run.
