Monett teen faces terrorist threat charge

A Monett teenager faces charges after there was a possible threat at the school on Monday. Read the full press release below:

The Monett Police Department was contacted by the Monett High School staff in reference to a possible threat of school shooting that was sent through social media. Around fifteen students checked out of school due to the possible threat.

Officers responded to the Monett High School to meet with staff and get updated information. The Monett High School was placed into lockdown for around an hour while the suspected student was taken into custody without incident. The Monett High School property was searched to assure no danger was present and the lockdown was lifted with the students returning to a normal schedule.

The student is Alejandro Gonzalez, 17 year old, white male, of Monett. Gonzalez was found in possession of a weapon (knuckles) and spent ammunition. Gonzalez was cooperative throughout the investigation.

Alejandro Gonzalez is currently being held at the Monett Justice Center. The 39th Judicial Circuit, Lawrence County Court issued a warrant for arrest of Alejandro Gonzalez for Terrorist Threat 1st Degree with a $10,000 bond.
