Galena man arrested for assault after running from officers
A man from Galena, Kansas, was arrested Sunday evening for assault and other charges.
Police say 45-year-old Raymond L. Williams was involved in a physical altercation in the area of 11th and Keller Street. As officers arrived on scene, Williams took off on foot.
He then attempted to enter three homes and ended up taking a bicycle form a female as she rode past him.
Williams eventually ditched the bicycle south of Baker Street and ran into the wooded area, crossed a fence line into thick brush. When officers caught up to Williams, he continued to physically resist.
As the officers placed hand restraints on him, he spit, attempted to smear blood and other body fluids on the arresting officers making threats to all responding personnel.
Charges are being requested through the Cherokee County Attorney’s Office for Aggravated Battery, Interference with LEO, Assault, and Criminal Threat.
This is an ongoing investigation, and more charges may be requested.
