U.S. 166/400 and K-26 now open to traffic in Cherokee County
(KDOT) — The Kansas Department of Transportation has opened the new U.S. 166/400 four-lane expressway to traffic from Baxter Springs east and south to the Kansas-Missouri border. Traffic on the new eastbound lanes is restricted to one lane until the placement of pavement markings is complete.
Other openings on the project include:
- The new interchange at K-26 and U.S. 166.
- The new interchange at U.S. 166/400 east of Baxter Springs.
- K-26 from U.S. 166 north to K-66 at Galena.
- Old U.S. 166 from Baxter Springs east to Bagdad Road.
Work is still taking place in the project area. Drivers should obey the signs and pavement markings, and slow down.
