Missouri takes Biden Administration to court over student loan plan
Missouri takes its case to court against the Biden Administration’s student loan plan.
A federal judge in St. Louis is considering arguments in Missouri versus Biden – whether President Joe Biden’s administration went too far in canceling student loan debt without the approval of Congress.
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey is suing the Biden Administration because he argues Biden is sidestepping the Constitution by “saddling working Missourians with a half trillion dollars in college debt.” Bailey cites a 2023 U.S. Supreme Court ruling striking down a Biden administration attempt to forgive student loan debt.
Biden says his administration has “taken the most significant action to provide student debt relief ever in the history of this country.”
The Biden rule Missouri is working to block is scheduled to begin on July 1st.
