Pittsburg Police recover stolen vehicle, firearms

On Friday, April 19, 2024, at approximately 0634 hours, officers with the Pittsburg Police Department were dispatched to the area of Centennial and Broadway Streets in reference to a stolen vehicle.

An alert had come through on a city license plate reader in reference to this vehicle being stolen from another jurisdiction. 

Officers arrived in the area and were able to locate the vehicle at McDonald’s, located at 1125 South Broadway Street. The vehicle was occupied by two individuals, 19-year- old Eric Taylor, of Kansas City and 19-year-old Makiya Reeves, of Ft. Scott.

Through the investigation, officers learned the vehicle and a firearm located inside had both been stolen out of Kansas City, Mo. 

Eric Taylor was arrested for Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Possession of a Weapon by a Felon. 

Mikiya Reeves was arrested for Possession of Stolen Property and Possession of a Stolen Firearm
