Carthage council moving forward with articles of impeachment against mayor

It was a chaotic night in Carthage during a special city council meeting Thursday night.

Council members voted in favor of moving forward with articles of impeachment against Mayor Dan Rife and a motion seeking to remove City Administrator Greg Dagnan.

However, the mayor refused to step down even though there had already been a vote of no confidence against him Monday.

City Council Member Tiffany Cossey says that it’s sad that it has come to this point.

Councilman Alan Snow says the conflict stems from several issues that have arisen over the past few years.
