Neosho elementary school counselor posts bond after being charged with rape
A Neosho elementary school counselor is facing a second-degree statutory rape charge related to contact with a minor
Court documents allege that 40-year-old Jacob Lee Oakes sexually assaulted the girl on multiple occasions, beginning in 2021, when she was 14-years-old.
The alleged encounters then continued through at least once this year.
Prosecuting documents say the mother of the child left her at Oakes home so she could take another child for medical treatment.
A $5,000 dollar bond was set for Oakes, of which he posted Thursday when he turned himself in.
Oakes was placed on leave a few weeks ago when school officials were made aware of the police investigation.
