Missouri Treasurer Vivek Malek announces campaign for full four-year-term

(JOPLIN, MO) – Missouri State Treasurer Vivek Malek has announced that he will seek the Republican nomination to serve a full four-year term in the Treasurer’s office.

“As your State Treasurer, I have been aggressive about serving the people. I call this approach my Three P’s: First, Protecting your taxpayer dollars. Second, Providing opportunities through education and helping create good jobs. Third, Promoting the Promise of America across our great state of Missouri,” Treasurer Malek said.

Treasurer Malek took office as State Treasurer in January 2023 by appointment from Gov. Mike Parson. “Under my leadership, the State Treasurer’s Office had a record-setting first year,” he said. “We took tough actions and we have seen real results.”

“I had to fight the establishment, but I led the way to get our state pension money out of China, to protect our retirees. And I’m working to get all government investments in Missouri out of nations that want to do harm to America,” Treasurer Malek said. “I also saved Missourians’ taxpayer dollars by bringing my office operations in under budget in my first year. And I set new records in returning unclaimed money to Missourians – and I want to keep setting records until the state’s balance of unclaimed money is zero.”

Treasurer Malek continued: “During my first year in office, we successfully targeted new MOBUCK$ loans to help our farmers suffering from severe drought, as well as helping small businesses hit by Joe Biden’s inflation. And during my first year as your State Treasurer, we grew the MOScholars program by almost 40 percent, so more families have more choices about where their kids go to school.”

“I love doing this job. It’s my American dream, come true. My opponents are running to get the job, but I’m running to keep doing the job in service to my fellow Missourians,” Treasurer Malek said.

Treasurer Malek described himself as a Constitutional, social and fiscal conservative, pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, and a strong supporter of President Donald Trump, including Trump’s call to shut down the border.

Malek, 47, arrived in Cape Girardeau from India in 2001 to attend college at Southeast Missouri State University.

“I came to Missouri 22 years ago for my education. I fell in love with Missouri, and I fell in love with America. I became a citizen the right way, the legal way, and it took me 16 years to earn my American citizenship,” Treasurer Malek said. “That is why I stand with President Trump on getting immigration under control after Biden’s disastrous handling of the border crisis.”

Treasurer Malek and his wife, Riju, are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year. They have three children, ages 13, 11 and 7, and live in Wildwood in St. Louis County.
