Rural Columbus Man Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison

Eric R Wood, 54, of Columbus, was sentenced to 72 months imprisonment in the Kansas Department of Corrections on Tuesday.

In January, Wood pled guilty to Aggravated Indecent Liberties with Child and Attempted Indecent Solicitation of a Child following an investigation by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office into his April 2019 criminal acts.

Wood was ordered to be held in the Cherokee County Jail pending his transfer to the Kansas Department of Corrections.

Wood was prosecuted by the Office of Cherokee County Attorney Kurt Benecke.
