Repealing expiration of transgender sports bill

A controversial bill that became law is set to return for the next legislative session. 

Republican Senator Holly Thompson Rehder has prefiled a bill that would repeal an expiration date on current transgender sports restrictions. 

This proposal would get rid of the 2027 expiration date on a law that requires athletes to compete on sports teams aligned with their biological sex. 

Those restrictions are for Missouri public and private schools through college. Talk of this controversial bill dominated the headlines through the first part of 2023.
