Firefighters combat blaze near Pierce City; Home contents a total loss
The Pierce City Fire Protection District was alerted to a structure fire in the area of Greenbrier and Fern Drive in rural Newton County around 1:51 p.m. on Monday.
Upon arrival, crews were met with smoke showing from the structure. Once entry was made into the structure, crews combated extreme heat.
Two firefighters required medical attention on scene, but no next level of care was required.
Crews cleared the scene at approximately 5 p.m.
The contents of the home were a complete loss.
“We are very grateful for all of our mutual aid partners that responded. Every member of every agency that responded worked diligently to extinguish the fire and keep all members safe,” a statement said on the Pierce City Fire Facebook page. “Thank you to Newton County Ambulance District for responding and being available to assess the firefighters that required attention.”
Mutual Aid was provided by Monett Professional Firefighters Local 2001 Monett Rural Fire District; Sarcoxie Rural Fire Protection District Midway Fire Protection District A.
The Newton County Central Dispatch Center helped coordinate available resources to respond and assist with the fire.
Also responding to the blaze was New-Mac Electric Cooperative and the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.
