American Water Charitable Foundation and Missouri American Water announce 2023 state strategic grant recipient

JOPLIN, Mo. (September 22, 2023) – The American Water Charitable Foundation (AWCF), a 501(c)(3) organization established by American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company, and Missouri American Water say the Joplin Humane Society as a recipient of a 2023 State Strategic Impact Grant in the amount of $2500.
“This is such an amazing gift to the Joplin Humane Society’s aid,” said Connie Andrews, executive director of the organization. “Over the past four months we have had a record number of unwanted and lost dogs and cats entering our doors. The commitment to providing daily and medical care for them comes with a big price tag. This grant will go a long way in helping us make a real difference in the lives of these animals.”
Funds will be used to purchase the necessary food and supplies to support the animals until they find their forever homes.
The AWCF’s State Strategic Impact grant program was launched in 2022 to help support high-impact projects and initiatives throughout American Water’s regulated and regulated-like footprint.
State Strategic Impact grants are part of AWCF’s Keep Communities Flowing grant program, focused on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communities.
