Arkansas is the top rice-producing state in the United States.
Missouri comes in fourth.
California, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas are other top rice producers.
Eighty percent of all the rice consumed in the U.S. is grown in the U.S. The average American consumes about 27 pounds of rice a year.
September was designated National Rice Month in America by a Presidential Proclamation back in 1991.
