Joplin teen identified as driver involved in fatal pedestrian collision in Galena
A teenager from Joplin has been identified as the driver of a truck involved in a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian collision in Galena, Kansas, Saturday night.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the 17-year-old boy was traveling east on Route 66 (7th St.) when his truck drove onto the eastbound shoulder and struck a man walking along the highway.
That pedestrian has been identified as 60-year-old Gary Wayne LaTurner, of Galena. He was pronounced dead Sunday morning by Galena Police.
The Highway Patrol says the teen left the scene of the accident. His Ford Raptor truck was later identified by surveillance video from a nearby business.
The teenager has not been arrested and no charges have been filed as of Tuesday morning but the investigation continues.
