Realtors group launches campaign to block GOP on constitutional changes
A lobbying group for thousands of Missouri real estate agents is organizing a campaign to block Republicans from making it harder to change the state constitution.
The Missouri Association of Realtors on Thursday contributed 100-thousand dollars to a newly formed political action committee aimed at preventing Missouri ballot initiative laws from changing, according to a St. Louis newspaper.
By putting a sizeable amount of money behind the effort, they signaled that they are ready to support a ballot initiative that keeps the status quo, or they could work to block any bid by GOP lawmakers to make it harder to amend the constitution.
The PAC’s purpose is to “protect Missourians’ power of the petition for citizen governance.”
